Following the University of New York Tirana’s mission to educate tomorrow’s leaders, The Department of Economics and Finance offers a variety of programs that equip students with the appropriate skills for the job market and develop their personality to become leaders in the area of Economics, Finance, Accounting, and Banking.
With the unconditional support of academic expertise from local and international instructors, our graduates become competitive in the country and abroad, aiming to be part of the top excellence positions in business or public administration.
Our vision is to contribute to society by preparing skillful, competent, and proficient people who will represent themselves and the university and will become our ambassadors all over the world.
Objectives
The Department of Economics and Finance aligns its objectives with UNYT and extends them beyond aiming to:
- Offer a comprehensive cycle of basic, core, and elective courses that are combined in different majors, differentiate the graduates, and specialize them in the specific areas.
- Employ a variety of innovative methods in teaching and learning, including practice learning in business environments and adapting to practical tools used in job-related positions.
- Address the individual needs of students as active and creative learners and empower their involvement in real-life examples and/or projects.
- Closely observe developments not only in the higher education area but also in the business and financial area locally and abroad.

The multinational economic environment and the fast-paced finance industry and capital markets include everything from economics, banking, investments, asset management, insurance, venture capital, and private equity to financial reporting, accountability, and quality assurance. As such a large part of our economy, the finance and accounting fields create a high demand for jobs. Simultaneously, they also promote fierce competition. For individuals with the right education and professional skills, there is a multitude of rewarding career paths. Economics and Finance degrees share similar core business courses in areas like as microeconomics and macroeconomics, accounting, corporate finance, and business management, but they differ in major-specific courses that allow for further specialization within the fields of economics, finance, accounting, and applied banking and finance. All of them represent high-stakes industries—individuals and corporations won’t trust their future to just anyone. That’s why getting a degree in any of our programs is extremely valuable.
