About the Department of Business Informatics and e-Business Data, automation, globalization, and cross border sales are all trends highlighting the need for stronger business intelligence. The Business Informatics and e-Business Department seeks to equip and develop students’ skills to address this growing need for data and information in the national and regional labor markets. It is the newest of the three departments within the Faculty of Economics and Business at UNYT. It was established in 2020, by Senate Order no. 62, date 12.02.2020, Administrate Board Order date 13.02.2020, confirmed by MASR document, Prot. No.1831/2 date 09.04.2020. The mission of this department is to educate tomorrow’s leaders by equipping our students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to enable them to apply information systems, modern information, and communication technologies (ICTs) to business digitalization and decision-making needs, as well as to form the basis for further academic studies in the second and third cycle. Our vision is to serve society through excelling in teaching and research, investing in professionals who will become competitive in national and international markets. Our department’s commitment to excellence is rooted in a number of values which are at the heart of UNYT’s operation:

Our department objectives embrace UNYT objectives and consist in:

Reviewing and keeping the curricula updated to labor market trends;
Further improving the quality standards on teaching by adopting contemporary methods & techniques, updating the syllabi;
Providing continued academic advice and support for our students;
Arranging for visitors and guest speakers to meet with our students to promote the model-leaders and managers from different business areas and industries;
Strengthen and streamline the Department’s efforts in research activities and projects development.

Our department is a blend of national and international staff who bring together not only excellent academic expertise but also intercultural perspectives. In addition to education and research, the members of the department provide important service duties to the community, such as active members of committees, editorial boards, and review panels for academic journals. The Department works in partnership with private and governmental institutions. It also offers double degree programs in partnership with SUNY Empire State College (USA). The department offers two bachelor programs:

These programs highlight a combination of technological expertise and skills in business and commerce, by exploring in-depth the essential concepts and practices of information systems, e-business and e-commerce from modern marketing, in the perspective of strategic management, the exploitation of the web for business and trade, and the effective management of customer experience and satisfaction, in order to increase competitiveness in this new business environment. Beyond gaining knowledge in specific areas, our programs also aim to equip students with skills in research, communication, problem-solving, contemporary business strategy, and critical thinking. The demand for experts in the analysis, design, and administration of information systems and technologies, as well as their innovative application in business management and digitalization, has been recognized and is experiencing continuous growth in Albania and beyond. Our programs provide students with the opportunity to become part of a study that combines the theory of business and computer science as a whole and practice related to the analysis, design, and development of information systems, and the innovative application of technologies in organizations and businesses.
