Navigating Complexity and Change in the Balkans

The University of New York Tirana in collaboration with the Turkish-German University and Ibn Haldun University is pleased to announce the upcoming international conference entitled "Navigating Complexity and Change in the Balkans" to be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 5-6 December 2024.

This notable academic event is organized under the auspices of the Institute of European and Balkan Studies (European Research Centre) of UNYT.

The conference aims to explore the multifaceted dimensions and dynamics of the Balkans in these turbulent times and to address the complexities of the region’s current geopolitical environment and its implications for both local and global actors. It will bring together scholars, academics, policymakers, and analysts from universities and institutions in the Western Balkans, Turkey, and Albania who have contributed research on the conference's topic and its related areas.

The event will feature five thematic panels focusing on:

  • Geopolitics and International Relations
  • Security
  • Politics
  • Law
  • Economics

The conference will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person attendance and participation via Zoom. The official language of the conference is English. Conference papers will be published in the "Book of Conference Proceedings" and selected peer-reviewed papers will appear in the "International Journal of Balkan Studies" (IJBS).

Scholars and experts in relevant fields are cordially invited to submit their papers. The deadline for abstract submission is 20 October 2024. The registration fee for UNYT academics is free of charge.
